ABOUT THE COLLEGE MUSICAL THEATRE GUIDE
WHO AM I?
I'm someone who went through a simplified version of this process 30 years ago, holds an undergraduate Bachelor of Music degree in musical theatre, a master's degree in secondary education spent the last 20 years teaching and directing high school theatre. I currently head the education department at a major performing arts center in Tampa, FL. I also experienced the Acting/Musical Theatre program search process as a parent throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
WHY DO I DO THIS?
My passion is working with high school students as a director, theater instructor and vocal/audition/acting coach, so when the opportunity arose to help my daughter navigate the undergraduate musical theatre audition process, I approached it with some level of confidence. However, as we began the live audition leg of the journey, I found myself back in student mode. The entire process demanded more than expected as a parent. I've compiled what my daughter and I learned on this website and blog with the hope that it may be useful to parents, students and teachers alike.
WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
My professional role allows me to provide support and resources to students and teachers of the performing arts. This site provides an opportunity to share our college audition experience, organize the information, resources, and valuable links, and make them accessible to anyone in a similar place both now and in the future.
